Everyone has those days where they need a confidence boost, whether they like it or not.
Todays been a bit of a crappy image day- and so I thought I'd share with you
some of the ways that I help myself feel better. I suffer from very low self-esteem, as well
as being in recovery for an eating disorder. I'm not doing this post for people to feel sorry for
me, I'm doing it because I want to help others with issues like mine- or even people who
just feel pooey about how they look. Because, lets face it ladies- everyone has those days.
First of all, this image at the top never fails to help me! When I'm having one of
those days where I feel I need to be super slim to be beautiful, when in reality-
anyone is beautiful, any size, any shape, any race, and any gender. Looking at
others for inspiration really help me too. For instance, Louise from 'Sprinkle
of Glitter' shows that being curvy, is a good thing! As well as showing you how to flatter
your curves, she also gives you lots of advice on any bad body image. I just love her, she's gorgeous
and a real role model.
YOU are beautiful. And I am talking to you reading this post, you are. In your own way,
be yourself and don't give a damn what other people think (as hard as that may be!)
Who cares if you want to have bright pink hair, or who cares if you want to wear an
old vintage dress with a pair of trainers. You are YOU! Here is a quote I love, that's helped me
through recovery.
"Today you are you, that is truer than true,
there is noone alive, who is more youer that you.
- Dr Seuss"
Another thing is to talk to your friends and family. Most of the time, I feel I have no
friends, but when I actually sit down and think about it- I do, and they all care about
me, and offer brilliant advice (and helpful compliments) whenever you're having a bit
of a downer. But, one thing NOT to do, is start fishing around for compliments to make
yourself feel better. I mean, can you get any worse than posting pictures and statuses all over
social networking sites, saying 'I wish I was beautiful' or 'I'm so fat', because that is something
that won't help you, in the long run- it will make you feel worse. Also, people will eventually
get sick of you fishing around for them to say 'You look beautiful' or, 'don't be stupid, you're
so slim!'. Sorry, I'm kind of going into a rant now..
I know this post has literally absolutely nothing to do with beauty, or fashion- but
it's the kind of post, I personally like to read, and I hope you do too! I've found some
helpful quotes and pictures on the internet to help you feel better!
